Thank you. I have a model called the Skelf which is a small edc blade. I've had quite a few people DM me on instagram asking me to make a much larger version. I designed it based on elements from trade and bowie knives. As for intended use, I think that would depend on the owner. I won't get into the large blade or single tool option debate here since that's been done to death, however I think that this kind of knife could be confidently applied to many tasks. It feather sticks and carves notches nicely and has enough mass to do some light chopping. It should be mentioned that the vast majority of my customers are in the US and Canada where a larger outdoor knife seems to be quite normal. This one is the first one so I'll be keeping it for more testing and I'll probably end up using it to break down deer for the freezer and as a general woods knife.
Indeed. I'm in Scotland and if I was out shooting or bushcrafting with other people and pulled this out, I would be fully expecting the Crocodile Dundee ribbing to start. Good job I'm antisocial! I love this knife anyway and it feels great to use and to carry.
Most of my knives are in o1 tool steel. I've made quite a few customs in Niolox and Elmax. I'd like to give Aeb-l a try but I really like to dial in my heat treatment for each steel so there would have to be enough demand for me to invest time and money into the trials for it. Most people request o1 and I love it personally so that's my standard.

So am I! The Reulator is a full sized knife with about a 4" cutting edge and around 9½" OAL so not an edc. My Skelf edc has a 3" cutting edge and is 7¼ OAL. I actually pocket carry one every day with the straps removed. You're right about the Regulator shape, I hadn't considered making a scaled down version. Good shout! I've got some heat treatments to do tomorrow and a few knives to ship and then I think I may get back to the drawing board! Cheers!I am a big fan of the pocket fixed blade, have a few and another little darling on its way to me right now. But, that is no reason to end the search for the right one. Sort of under 6 1/4" OAL seems be the the right size, but not so small as you can't get a decent grip on it, and good at back to front grips for potato-peeling type cuts
That Regulator of yours looks like a good pattern for that
Just spent some time looking at that Nechtan pattern of yours. It is a really well thought-through knife. Not surprised you are getting a bunch of commissions from Canada. I can't think of many people here who make something that practicable, that well and that isn't trying to appeal to some other, more totemic or overdecorated sense of what the knife is for. Do you make sheaths for them, or is someone else doing that for you?
Well thank you. It's very nice of you to say so. My models are slightly different now to the ones you'll have seen. The profiles are the same but they're now in 4mm stock as opposed to 5mm. They're also full flat ground rather that a sabre grind with the hammer finish. I find this makes them lighter, a nicer distal taper and more "slicey".
