..and this one I get to keep

Its the stick tang I forged out last weekend in my new forge.

Handle - Buffalo horn, Birch burr, Birch bark, Leather from a jacket, Brass, more leather and a cross section of yew.

I tryed a new belt loop[ on the sheath this time too.

Roughed out a kuksa and used it all day for bits and bobs today and its cutting well. The fish shape handle with a bit extra in the length is perfect for the various holds and all the usual bushy tasks. The flare works well when drawing and replacing into the sheath.

That's a really nice package there Addo, the handle components and shape are really pleasing to the eye, and the sheath is (I keep saying really) but it is, really good, like the mottled effect, is it a home brewed dye or did you use different colours to get the effect?

Nice one mate, you doing the moot this year? been a while.

Cheers

Stephen

Thanks all, im really pleased with this one.

Stephen, cheers mate it has been a while. The Dye is a water based/natural one called Eco-Flo that I thought i'd try from a place nearby. The effect was an accident, but I used leather Grease over the top https://www.brisa.fi/portal/index.p...sMod=product_info&cPath=99_70&products_id=616 which I think is great stuff and all natural. Normal chemical dye is easyer to apply though.

I'd like to go to the moot, but I cant make it this year. Hope to catch up at another meet soon though :)

Thanks Tjurved/Shewie Ive always wanted to get to this stage of making the blade, handle and sheath, and Ive had some good friends help me out learning the skills over the last couple of years.

I think Scandinavian Knives are a joy to use and I love the many types of designs and materials that can be used.

Very nice indeed fella, love the Yew and the blade you made is quality.

Cheers Simon, Im itching to make some more. A chap at work is wanting one and I still owe the Mrs one too. Best get some more spring straightened out and crack on. Thing is, I want to make myself another using a lovely very old file from my grandads shed which is almost the perfect size already, so that'll slow things up. Thinking of a different grind angle on that one for general use and keeping the one ive just made for food prep.
