Those are just lovely. I made my first knife and sheath from a Karesuando kit recently (see here for the results

I'm just trying to gen up a bit on leatherworking in the hope of starting on some more projects - tinder pouches and the like. Could really do with a belt sheath for my laplander so this post is good inspiration!
You look like you know what you're doing with leather, so I wonder if you could clear up a question I had... What's the real difference between half-tanned and veg-tanned leather? I understand half-tanned is raw hide on the one side, so presumably it goes off stiffer? Therefore I thought it would be better for knife sheaths but reading around it seems most people use veg-tanned for knife sheaths. What've you used here and what's your advice generally?
