Hey everyone I am just about to buy this beautiful Double bit from Collins,
and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little more about it, as I am curious about it's age, who made it as Collins got taken over a couple of times under my understanding ( right?)
here are the 2 photo's I got from it.

Thanks mate, Lucas the man selling it to me is seeing if it will fit the flatrate international shipping boxes and if so he will get it to me 70 dollars posted so that would be about 42 quid for you guys ^^,
and that is import taxes and shipping included,
that would make for about 30 dollars for the actual bit. So not a bad deal I reckon.

Looking like a Collins falling pattern - 1900s most likely - looks to want a 36" helve or thereabouts. Not much wrong with it.

Whats the weight of it? If its a 2 1/2 lb, you're laughing.... any heavier and unless you do any felling... it may be a bit much.

I reckon it to be about the 3 lb margins, but will get a definitive answer on that today,
And I was indeed thinking of a handle around the 34/36 inch mark Red as I am a relatively tall fella but not a giant ^^ and I want to be able to strap it to my bag without to much hindrance. However with my pack size ( Lowe Alpine Saracen, yep the 110/130 Liter one)
I will not have to worry about that any time soon. Will need to start looking for a smaller pack though XD.

And thanks for the input guys, very much appreciated.
Ps I was gonna handle it, to the great disliking of some American Axe lovers with the more Traditional European Elm, what do you guys think about that?

I'd use Ash for the handle personally. Especially on a 34/36" handle. If the head happens to weigh less than 3lbs, look at putting a 28" helve on it.

Alright I'l keep that in mind, but will wait till I meet the head in person for the final decision anyways.
Thanks for the input everyone

Well a bit of a bummer, the head being over 4 lbs it surprised both me and the guy selling it, so now we are both looking for something more to my liking,
as the postage alone would go over the 60 dollars, and I will not do that much falling so a 4lbs head would be a bit overkill.
