This is what the woodworm look like in the south of France. And they're protected! So now you know why they take woodworm very seriously in France...

This one impressed us by crawling into the living room through a tiny ventilation slot in the window frame, so no, apparently they don't get in the way!

I think they can bring their antennae round behind them so they are not damaged when pushing through vegetation.
