Phil, the only flypress tool I used with these was a pair of fullers to stretch the metal out a bit ;)

I've got a slitting chisel/drift that I use for smaller hammers and things that also fits in the press, but I've not got around to making an axe or hawk drift to fit, so these are still done with a hand-held drift and a ruddy great hammer in the other hand :D
 
Cheers guys :) Strangely, after doing this tutorial I have been mostly making axes from some solid bar (rather than hammers) that I bought years back with something else in mind. I'm rapidly running out of that steel, so I'll have a few more and then there will likely be a lull in chopper production until I have another steel delivery later in the year :rolleyes:

Chris, don't worry I'll bring your axe with me! I may even have a few more with me if I can get a wriggle on with making instead of all the other stuff that has been getting in the way
