Modding an Opinel

I was looking at changing the blade shape on my opinel and also in doing so making it EDC..what should i be using to do this?

Would a file do? Or could I use a belt grinder type thing?

Sorry for the stupid questions I'm just not sure whether something might ruin the blade, even though it wouldn't be too big a loss!

Can't say for inox, but a file will do fine on carbon ~ take it slow to keep the temperature low .

Ah ok, mines an Inox.. So s file wouldn't work so well on the stainless steel?

Either will do the job.

As Decorum points out the important thing is to keep the blade cool so take it slowly and dip it in water regularly if using a belt grinder.

Keeping it in a metal vice ought to be ok as the metal will act as a heat sink to keep the blade cool so long as there's direct contact between the two metals

Dremel tool, hacksaw, file, grinder.. all will do fine! If you use a power tool go slow and dip in cold water every couple of seconds to keep it cool.

Then go nut! change it however you like

As Samon says use a dremel and keep the blade cool by either dipping or putting the blade into a cold potato or apple
