Whats yor lot use ?

I swear by mink oil for all my boots. I'm curious to why, in kit lists I've not seen nobody mention packing some dubbing for trips of more than a couple of days ?
My old German paras newly re-soled an on their second oiling, awaiting the 3rd coyt afore wearing again....

I have used whatever springs to hand, dubbin, polish, Neat's Foot Oil, wax - just about anything.

But I have not yet come across Mink Oil - got any suggestions as to where to get some from?

My cobbler mate stocks a brand called trg. I first came across mink oil years ago and it was a true oil like neats foot (which I used to use ) called Jonson's . I imported it from ova pond. There was a Uk supplier, but I think they went bust after a fire .
Matterhorn used to recommend it for their gortex boots.
I used to swear by neats foot on my old hoggs fell boots. Full Kip leather with minimal lining. Great boits once brok in .

Mink oil is a by- product of the caged animal fur industry.......................if you use it, you condone this barbaric practice.............

And a chicken is bred for ? A pheasant ? ....it's an endless debate....not what the thread is started for. If tha feels so passionate and seek audience and debate then please start your own thread.

Raising domestic animals for food ain't the same as caging wild animals for their pelts, nor are the living conditions & methods of dispatch the same. Just wanted folk to know so they can decide for themselves. Sorry if you thought this was a thread hijack but I don't think a few words about the provenance of a product being discussed is ' off topic'............................this is my last word on the matter :D

Got mine from Clas Ohlson last year, appears good stuff, put some on my daughter's new boots today, sorry really, she'll be round regularly so I better stock up on it.:(

I mink oil my boots, I get mine from Tandy leather. It's amazing how dry the leather gets after a winter of feet right by the fire, I do mine a couple times a year and never get wet feet...
