Mini Swedish fid

Got some rope arriving next week, hopefully, and after seeing some tutorials on YouTube about splicing thought a Swedish fid might be useful so made a little one from some old stainless tubing I had lying around. The rope is only 10mm diameter so it should be OK but only took a few minutes to grind out!

Well I just learnt something new today and that's what a Swedish Fid is. Thanks buddy. Looks the biz that does.

Will you have to smooth the edges off else it could end up cutting the rope as it's passed through the weave?

Yes, it will need a bit of sanding to smooth it down a bit - was in a hurry to walk the dogs. Looking forward to them having better leads, although knowing me I've probably bought the wrong rope...
