I saw that last night and was really shocked.

I believe that he suffered from some kind of lung problem for many years (aspergillosis).

He was a true communicator and has doubtless inspired many thousands of people over his career; they are his legacy.

A great teacher: his enthusiasm for his subject was infectious. His inspiration led me to volunteer for a local dig. Until then I had no idea what hard work archaeology was.

What a shame.. He seemed like a decent guy. You cant beat the older time team series, more recent ones were awful.. He obviously knew it had ran it's course.. you really don't need eye candy to promote archaeology.. Typical C4 rubbish.
