I have sucessfully made micarta using the above method and some old combat fatigues, I use two pieces of angle iron welded together for the mould and another piece of steel and some g clamps to compress the material, if you can, get your resin from a grp supplier as its cheaper

and don't forget to grease your mould or all you'll get is a solid lump of steel and resin
