I wondered how many people used the Merlin app. It is a bird ID app run by Cornell Uni (I think); who process the info.
It provides visual identifications, as you might expect. But, the very neat thing is its audio ID function. You make a recording with your phone and it tells you what is singing at the time. You can delete the recordings or keep them for later use. It is a hoot as often what you think is a song typical to a bird actually turns out to just be one of a load of other voices it may have.
The only possible question I have is does it work in the UK for UK species?
