Marshmallow, the plant -> marshmallow the candy

Does anyone know how to turn the roots of marshmallow (Althea officinalis) into well eh...marshmallows (as in the traditional sweet candy)?

couple of recipes on there. never done it myself as I've only ever found the odd plant

I've got 4 of the plants in the garden. Havn't yet found a recipe for just the roots, most still used geletine.

Until now Now to work out how to make the roots into powder and find something called gum arabic
