Oh goody, saboteurs will have locations of critical infrastructure instantly rather than having to wait 6 days.

Oh cynical much :)

I do take your point though, but well, it's like water mains, we need them, but we need them not to be abused/damaged/ interfered with by stupid or malicious people.

Absolutely, those that want to do harm will always find ways of getting the information regardless. I just wonder if sometimes it is made too easy, but how else to allow simple access to those who maintain it all.

It would be fascinating to be able to have a browse once it's done though! But not worth getting a job in the utilities industry just to do so.

As far as I can see the data will only be available to utilities companies. I confess, I see no benefit at all in this map being made public - what legitimate use has anyone not in the utilities industry, but it looks like it will not be made widely available. That won't stop the info being leaked though (excuse the pun :))

We found old lead coated high voltage cable while landscaping parts of Ironbridge.

The then MEB were ever so grateful. It was yards from where they had thought it might be.

More than one Archaeologist has met a sticky end due to unmapped cables.

How would this work? So much is unrecorded.
