I went to the Museum in Fredericton, New Brunswick yesterday after visiting some War of 1812 exhibits and military displays on the grounds. I had been there before but took a camera this trip. There are a couple of Maliseet paddles there that are worth noting in one of the exhibits.
I have made a lot of canoe paddles over the years and almost all of them have a northwoods type grip but I may try to reproduce the pointed leaf shaped blade type and some of the little accessory features on this paddle just for kicks. Typically I prefer functional to pretty so will probably leave the design off. There was another workin mans version of the same paddle on the opposite wall but when posting photos, people like pretty.
