Making your own hat?

I'd like to have a go at making leather hats, has anyone ever done this? Got any ideas on patterns, sizing etc?

Do a search on here as someone made a white(ish) leather hat from an old sofa, but the thread was probably over a year ago from memory.

I've done wool felt bit, but never a sewn one. Think about the shaope of the head, it is easy to make a cylinder, but if that is not what you want? Also, make sure it is not round but oval (measure your head both for circumferance, width and length

Never made one out of leather but have made a couple out of cotton.
I used this pattern ' Simplicity No. 9226 '.

I suppose you could also apply it to leather, there might be other styles available to.
