I've been asked to make a small trumpet/ blower/ musical instrument thing out of a cow horn.
I've sanded it down and beeswaxed it as you can see (sorry about the photo quality
) but I'm wondering about the best way to make the mouth piece. Is it a case of just cutting the end off and drilling a hole or is there more to it than that?
I don't want to shorten it too much as it's small enough already.
I should also explain it's for an amateur dramatics play (Robin Hood) so doesn't need to be historically correct or anything, I was actually thinking of getting a mouth piece from a brass instrument and using that - trouble is I haven't got access to one.
So what do you experts on ancient techniques think???
Cheers
Mark
