I am going to attempt a chair made from green wood tomorrow, was going to buy a piece of wood for the chair base but then thought i could use twine instead, does anyone know how to do the cross over style twining? I cant remember how it is done. Photos will be added if the chair is any good

I have made woven seagrass seats on chairs with my students in the (distant) past. We used a simple weave that leaves the impression that you have four triangles of grass.

Try this for advice/ideas:

From what I can remember:
Start in one corner and take the grass across the chair and around the opposite rail.
take the grassaround the adjacent corner and the across to the opposite rail.
repeat this until you are back where you started.
repeat again (and again!) inside the last weave until you reach the middle.

(It's easier to experiment than try to follow instructions!)
