I'm on the look out for a couple of hand forged awls, the Z shaped jobs that we used to send out to the colonies by the barrel full.

Can anyone suggest a supplier of good uns?

Yeah, I am regret not getting some off of Mike when I got the steels off him last year. You just don't expect someone like him to be suddenly not there.

Anyroad thats the sort of thing I am after but not at Woodlore prices. If I had a forge I think I could just about make some myself, with a bit of advice.

I've not seen those before. I dunno that I would want to make them for £4 like Mike, but I bet I wouldn't charge £22 like Ray! 5mm thick, 170mm long and heat treated to be tough like a proper awl should ;)
