Just had to snap this. I don't think I've ever seen one quite as big as this and the picture don't really do it justice either. I'd say around the tree it is probably 2ft from one side to other.

I think its one of the Ganoderma's but happy to be told different. Maybe Fomes Fomentarius?

Looks like its a very old Artists bracket, Ganoderma applanatum. but a bit tricky to tell without seeing more of the underside. They are usually very white on the base and you can use a sharp object to scribe designs onto it.

Yup. My first thought was Ganoderma too. Whatever it been there a long time I know that much.
