M1909 worth the cost?

Hello all,

I am looking to buy a M1909 Swedish parka, because they look warm and comfortable. But, I was hoping to pick the brains of more experienced bushcrafters for your opinion.

Is it worth it? Is there something available in the UK a better price? Is it overkill for the UK climate? Etc etc.

Your certainly not going to be cold even in the coldest uk winter this for sure. I've never owned one but I have held one and the one thing I can say is that they weigh a ton!

A Buffalo Smock goes for about the same price I think. It won't be as warm on its own but with a good layering system it cold be and it's certainly more practical. But i guess you'd lose the vintage look with something more modern if that is partly what you are aiming for.

Warm yes, but cotton outer. Not much use for a winter coat in soggy old Blighty
