My first post on the boards - I usually lurk in the kit chatter section or do searches to find reviews of stuff I am curious about. But here it goes - a stub on the Luru Valley of Trøndelag in Norway. Easily-ish accesible from most European airports via a transfer at Oslo Gardemoen airport to Trondheim, and then by bus or rented car to Luru. It is part of Norways national park system ( link in Norwegian) http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_over_norske_nasjonalparker

The area has it all. You have your lower laying woods and marshes, the wooded and more open hills and the bare alpine with terrain over 1000 meters /sealevel. I guess april to august is the best time to go. September is hunting season and October - well you could see some snow.

This area is well known for its many possible routes and camp spots. It is open to all - as long as they leave no trace.

( Norwegian law allow all to pass through any property not in conjunction to a building/cultivated area by 500 feet - AND pitch a tent there for one night - regardless of ownership. As always - thread lightly and leave no trace applies. There are restrictions on lighting fires from 15 of April to 5 of september in wooded areas - that said I guess that rule only applies to those who cant make a fire without torching the wood :)

Also a historical site - with some WWII sites etc -enclosed link for the pics to give you an idea

I recommend it. Easy enough to get to and varied terrain

We shall send our tame Norwegian investigator to have a look:

Some say he is fluent in all Scandinavian Languages but doesn't understand people from the Black Country.

If he walks in the Boreal forest his skin actually changes colour to match the woodland around him and he becomes invisible to the naked eye.

All we know is he's - Twø Døgsj

I did an exercise in Oerland (nr Brekstad) a few years back and it's not far at all from Grassemoen. It's a beautiful area, and the coast is worth visiting too as well as inland. I would agree that this would be a great area for a trip. Also, I spent a few days in Trondheim which was really nice and a great place to visit before/after your backcountry epic.
