Well, it'll be visible in the night sky for a good few weeks yet, though it's location relative to the moon will change.

Try installing this and have a play...

Remember, dont expect to see too much from Saturn, it's visible to the naked eye but just looks like another star. You need somne magnification to make out the rings.

I saw it, twas pretty cool :D

Though I'm really holding out my astronomical excitement for the solar maximum, which should arrive between 2010-2012 :D For anyone unaware, the maximum is when the solar activity is highest in the solar cycle. They're saying that this'll be the strongest one since 1958, when the northern lights were seen as far south as Mexico

Spent the evening with my 8 year old daugther watching the eclipse with a telescope in our spare bedroom whilst my 15 year old was out with my wife at the ballet. I had to explain what was happening, drawing pictures so that she could understand. A very enjoyable evening starring in to the sky.

When my wife and older daughter returned from the ballet and I pointed out the eclipse and she reminded me that I had done the same thing with her a few years ago when we had the solar eclipse.

Thinking back I can remember watching the comet that visible in the sky (was visible for a couple of days/weeks) with my eldest son, who is now 20, back when he was about 5 -- can't remember the comet's name, can someone jog my aging memory?

Hale Bop (1995)? Halley's Comet (1986), or maybe Comet Kohoutek (1974)?

I think it might be the halle-bop comet. It was visible with the naked eye, I can remember standing on our back step and lifting my son up so that he could see it (tall walls in a town house). That was an experience for me as it was the first and only comet that I had seen.

Hi All,
I sat out in my back garden last night watching the eclipse and even put the billie can on my hexi stove to make a brew whilst watching! The sky was very clear, it was a very chilled out experience!!

All the best....Paul :D

It was cool wasn't it? :D
Kind of something bigger than us, and after all these millenia that mankind has wandered this Earth under that big Moon up there, finally, we know why the skies change  Still very special, and excellent to get such a clear view from our normally cloud covered bit of the world

We need another forum. A place to post what's happening above our world :) with things like a Lunar Calendar in it, maybe Tides. Perhaps a sub-forum of Out and About?

Cheers,
Toddy

Bit gutted that I missed this and frankly amazed that I didn't even know it was
happening until everyone at work asked me this morning if I'd enjoyed it. Oh
well.

At least I enjoyed the transit of Venus a while back (v. handy living next door
to Greenwich observatory) and the big eclipse a few years ago where it all
went quiet and spooky in Cornwall for a few minutes.

Glad to hear it was so visible - just wish I'd known about it earlier.

My explorers were out in the woods this weekend so we sat and watched it round the fire. It was quite something.
