Im looking at a bungalow in Scotland, nice location, certainly nice for me, but seems to have been hanging around...

It seems very basic...and to be frank, is mostly view....

It has LPG Central heating.

I am dubious about this in the Scottish winter, -I suspect this is one of the reasons the place hasnt sold yet.

what do you think?

LPG is normally used because it isnt connected to the grid. It works well enough. But probably not as cheap to run as mains supply gas. And Scotland can be rather nippy. So heating bills could be higher. If the house is properly insulated and keeps the heat in, shouldnt be too bad. If its not...

No problem, quite common up here in rural areas due to a lack of mains gas.
Just like a normal gas central heating really. Ideally you’d have two bottle with an automatic change over valve, if one runs out it switches to the other cylinder,

Calor or Flogas will put in a bulk tank (for very little if not free). It's much cheaper & less faff to get a tanker fill (they are often on smart sensors now).

Boilers and cookers are bog standard gas devices with a different jet installed.

Oil boilers are expensive & failure prone plus people steal the oil. LPG is simpler & parts cheaper. My one piece of advice is to change the spurred electricity feed for a standard 3 pin plug In a power cut you just plug the boiler into a power station & carry on as normal!

As BR said, plus it's alot easier around here to take your gas and exchange at the garage(although a bit of a drive) than hope the oil chap will get to you. Planning a head is fine but a few days delay can leave you chilly toes.:)
