Hear loads of bother with the black islanders outer coating cracking and pealing off leaving them looking god awful state, I hadn't heard of them until you mentioned them in another post so I asked about and it kept coming back to the same thing! Apparently the company selling them aren't interested either!

I think they have changed supplier so are slightly different and improved? Can't comment on the service.

I'd go for Meindls every time though, I've only ever had 1 issue with the sole coming off a year old pair of Burma's and they replaced them FOC.

Carefully weighed this up and bought the Miendl, they are significantly higher than the Lowa! on paper they both say 10" but someone is measuring them in the wrong place I think! Miendl also seemed somewhat comfier, but that's just a personal thing! shame they don't have insulation like the Lowa's but I'll use them all year round so its not ultimately important!

I'll upgrade the insoles asap http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113128

And they will be on the foreshore in all the salty marsh water soon so they will get a proper test!!
