Hi folks
I'm looking for a source of 2 or 3 yards, depending on the width, of a a mid weight pure wool cloth, suitable for making a waist coat out of to go with my period trecking kit. It needs to be a light to mid olive using a natural dye, which will be the awkward part.

The blankets I have are either too heavy or too open weave.

I'm in the process of making a practice piece out of some charity shop wool

as I suspect the good stuff will be quite expensive. Saddly i'll have to lose the 4 inches off my waist I put on over the winter before this one will fit.

I've been poking about the reenactors sites but had no joy so far.

Cheers but I've had a look at their site and they don't have what I'm after, sad to say.

I've resigned myself to polking my nose in any mill shops i find, no joy yet but i did find plenty of heavy linen in a shop in Rawtenstal at 3 quid a metre which burns just like the kosher stuff i paid a hell of a lot more for last year.

In the mean time I'm bashing on with some single skin linen breeches as the lined hemp jobs are incredibly warm.
