Hi guys, I am looking for a heavy duty hard use sheath or pouch large enough to hold just a altoids tin. I was planning to make my personal surival kit into a tube container and use my Maxpedition sheath, but I really like the altoids tin. I am wondering if anyone has come across a "tactical" pouch or sheath large enough to carry just my Altoids PSK.

I see Maxpedition has a small cell phone pouch that might work, any other opinions or ideas?

Thanks all for your help.

Geoff.

I'm a fan of the maxpedition line of pouches and have my eye on one for my EDC gear, which will include an altoids tin. I don't think that you will find a better made pouch for the money you are going to spend to get one.

A friend bought a small camera case, which is less money, but it isn't near as rugged as the Maxpedition pouches.

yeah Maxpedition is great gear. I have got a Condor II backpack, a 4" tube sheath single sheath, and a M-1 pouch, all are tough as nails.

I'm probably gonna hear it for this but I won't buy maxpedition gear because it's made in China or Viet Nam. There are other high quality gear makers (spec-ops,
eagle industries, tactical tailor) that make their goods in USA . I would also buy Snugpak if they are made in the UK. I try to give my money to companies that pay their employees fair wages. You might pay a little more but I feel it's worth it.

Geoffrey,

I'm with the pocket idea. I once had so many pouches I looked like Batman! Build several kits and put them in every Jacket you are likely to use in the field, and make one for your pocket. If you use any pack with a hip belt the pouch will just get in the way.

I use a Doug Ritter PSK, but will be making an Altoid's size kit for my BK9, yeah I got one even after our talk, but hey, I traded a dagger for it.

Hard use, well even a Walmart camera pouch will stand up to hard use unless you plan of bashing your waist all the way down a mountain.

The surplus store on Agricola has compass pouches (sold as sewing kits) for around $5. These are Chinese so I'll likely have to add stiching of my own. Currently trying to get a few of the real ones from buddies stateside.

That's a great idea. Brigade Quartermasters sells them as compass/first-aid pouch.

thanks for the additional ideas. I used ti carry in a pocket but found it uncomfortable at times. I will look into the compass/first aid pouches.

Thanks again all.
