Posting here as I can't seem to find anything anywhere on-line. I'm using a Maxpedition Thermite as my basis for a 72 hr pack. This item has a thin zipped flap where you can put small items in. I'm trying to source basically a small nylon thin pouch/envelope where I can put plasters, burn gel, etc in. Dimensions would be something like 2.5 - 3 inches by 4.5 - 5 inches & as thin as possible.

Any ideas? (need something a bit more robust than a ziploc bag really.)

I have found the cordura/nylon pencil cases quite useful for odd and ends in my rucksack.
If that's any help.

I got something a little smaller from Poundland a year or two back which was actually a pouch for a FAK. If you want something better, albeit a little larger than your dimensions, then I'd go for the Alpkit Mission packs, or at least the small one (they come in a set - https://www.alpkit.com/products/mission ). The smallest is 15cm x 11cm, so 5.91in x 4.33in, but that would otherwise do very well. Not waterproof, but resistant, and the whole set is very useful. I've lent them to my wife when she's go on trips overseas for work, and its been very difficult to get them back off her!

Or have a look on somewhere like DX - 'zipper bag' came up with some hits like this http://www.dx.com/p/edcgear-portabl...zer-bag-camouflage-size-s-376127#.VPXKFy6-P5w , although most of them seem to be mesh, a bit like the Eagle Creek type packing bags. Their Pack-It Spector sac is pretty similar to the Alpkit ones, but more expensive, and like most of the bags for travelling, are a bit bigger than you want. Ideally, what you want are the sort of things they give away with freebie makeup stuff on planes, or a small pencil case. Ebay might be a start, but it might take a while, because most are larger than the size you want.

These were mentioned on EDCF recently

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Pouc...dy-Headphones-Earphones-Earbuds-/351243960495

But seem impossible to find in the EU or in places like deal extreme etc

Even that's too thick I really need like a cordura envelope, it's a hockered size I know, but it's an awkward area to ft it in, and if it's too thick it simply won't fit

I'll try and explain where/how big it is

The zipper just above the Maxpedition patch is the pocket, which is just a layer in that whole flap that the quick release is joined too

This picture shows the pocket goes both above and below the zipper and will be curved, so you can see how slim the first aid pouch/wallet needs to be.

Hi techguyone!

I have three suggestions.

One that has been mentioned is the Aloksak. I use a larger one for emergency gear and it has lasted many years. Friction from jostling will eventually wear-out the plastic bag.

Another option is a small silnylon pouch. These are ultralight and durable enough for your purpose. You can get them very small and thin. In the US, they can be found at most outdoor retail stores.

The last option is to go in the other direction. The small Topodesigns accessory bag (http://topodesigns.com/collections/bags/products/accessory-bags) might be a little larger than you need (8.5″w x 5.5″h). They are thin and are well made and durable. A small "rescue-me-orange" pouch might fit the bill. I just began using them and so far so good.

The smallest Alpkit one looked perfect for shape, but just a little large. How about this http://www.amazon.com/Granite-Gear-..._sim_sg_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1YTQFPGXJ19Z7GB93P5P ? 4 x 3.25 inches - so the size is right. Not exactly cheap though http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co...c10/wallets-and-pouches-c48/hiker-wallet-p132

Just had a look at the Alpkit ones again, and then saw the Orbitor pouches! https://www.alpkit.com/products/orbiter Right kind of shape, detachable strap, and 5.51in x 4.33in, so still a little bigger, but the shape (and price!) is right.

Thanks everyone - Looks like the Granite Gear may fit the bill, or perhaps the small orbiter pouch, I'll have to get my tape measure out and see.

Just seemed a shame to have a pocket there on the pack that wasn't much good for anything being so shallow, and not use it, basic FAK will fit the bill just right.

It’s surprising how many small ‘waterproof’ nylon drawbags you can make by simply skinning one of the fold up umbrellas from the pound shop, most of the time you don’t even have to buy the brolly, just have a walk around town on or after a wet and windy day and you find them laid dead in the gutter or in litter bins. I keep a couple of skins in my bag (they are about a metre in diameter, fold up small enough to fit into a match box and weigh probably less than 2 ounces ) great for sitting/kneeling on when the ground is wet or for simply spreading out to put stuff on etc. and as mentioned are great for drawbags or simple roll bags and envelopes.
