Check out 'thetopicala' on youtube. Osmo puts some truly stunning handles on blades and he put up a vid of some beautiful mushroom knives a good while back. No idea if he does requests etc (just a channel subscriber) but worth a look anyway.

A friend and neighbour was given a Laguiole for this season, a very high-quality tool and lovely to use; a steal for the money! Just beware, it's a heavy old lump to carry in a pocket

If you are buying a Laguiole knife, try check who the maker is. Due to disputed ownership of the name several makers are producing/selling knives . Some are reported as coming in from China. I have seen a beautiful one that was bought from a shop in the town of Laguiole in France and I have seen very shoddy ones for sale in a garden centre in East Sussex. There have been quite a few media reports about it:
