Hi guys, decided to make the most of a superb day by going to loch chon for a paddle and a couple of brews.

As you can see the car park was as full as usual.

The put in was calm with just a little mist lingering.

Round from the put in into the Loch.

Solo, cool as usual. Just a little bit of snow in the distance.

One of the islands, half way up the Loch.

It looks absolutely stunning.

Your dog's adorable too!

I know nothing about canoes, but it looks like a wonderful way to spend some time out. Just out of curiousity, do you need permission etc to canoe on lochs/ lakes/ waters, or can anyone pop on and paddle?

Not that I would be able to canoe:( (unable to drive), but I've often wondered about it:)

Have a look at the Alpacka's (in the transport section).

I've got two Alpacka Raft Packrafts, the larger two person model weighs about five pounds eight ounces and packs up to about the size of a two person tent and takes less than ten minutes to set up.

The model used to be called the Dory, the 'Alpacka Canoe' but has been updated and renamed the Fjord Explorer.

Don't let the lack of a car stop you paddling, I have no car, and even though disabled, I can carry the boat, paddle, PFD and drybag.

There are folding canoes available which weigh about 16+lbs too.

Have a look at Song Of The Paddle, the open canoe forum.
