  • Hey Guest, Early bird pricing on the Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August) available until March 31st, we'd love you to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE to early bird price and get more information.
Um, it seems that the gif's cause issues with layout, I've just spent too long trying to work out why. So, I can change a few things, put in some new emojis for things like thank you.
this doesn't display correctly :thankyou: but this could be used, but it comes out smaller! :emoji_clap:

So, if anyone would like to post some suggestions of just a few more emojis please feel free... :beerchug:
The little original ones are nicer anyway, I reckon you could dump that main list and just add a few more to the old selection?

The other one that occurred to me was “sorry” as I irritate someone (yet again!)

“Peace” might be useful when a thread gets heated.

I did like the idea of “What the heck?” too.

The only possible downside I see of having reaction icons as opposed to interaction or actual replies or quoted replies is that it doesn't 'bump' the thread and simplifies and interaction as opposed to indication of nuanced agreement or disagreement or anything in between.

Now - I ironically suspect I will get a series of likes or dislikes to this post to prove a point. :)

I have to admit that I still use the BcUK ones.
Click on the wee line of three dots at the top of the reply; then click on the smilie face, and go down the page until you find the BcUK smilies.

I'd like those more easily available if possible.
I know I've memorised the code for a lot of them over the years, but other folks don't know those.

That’s partly what I like about likes etc. The recipient receives the acknowledgement of / reaction to their contribution and is notified but what may be a fading or defunct thread isn’t resurrected.

If the post is current then it will probably be visible.

I have recently received likes to posts that are months old.

@Toddy.
I have recently created my own file of emoticons from the iPhone library. Some are the ones that are listed in the BcUK library but appear here vastly oversized which sort of over emphasises the reaction.

This might be useful one day:

I guess I see it as part of the move away from real language interaction - although I'm sure someone will point out all languages are in a constant state of change.
I would prefer to see real words first with an emoji interaction as a secondary supplement.

But, to be pedantic, signs, gesticulations, and facial expressions are real language - probably predating spoken words by many thousands of years and definitely way before written language. Even symbols and graphics may predate the spoken word.

However, I couldn't have said any of that with an emoji :)
