Very low priority.

but

I tend to use the thumbs up “like” reaction for all sorts of things:
I agree.
I understand.
I’ve done that.
And even I like that.

but often to imply “Thank you”.

Is it possible to add a specific “thank you” reaction?

Of course I can reply with a thank you but the reaction is immediate and doesn’t risk other posts intervening.

Just an idea.

Wouldn't the heart eyes do for that? As in love the reeply, a kind of thankyou I suppose

Emojis are whatever the receiver thinks they are. Sometimes I can not work out what the emoji is trying to impart. I do know of someone who used a certain emoji to mean shock then found out they were actually blowing kisses at mostly guys on the internet (cycling forum populated by mostly reetired men).

We used to have a wee cup of coffee one; a sort of cheers kind of thing. I liked that.
I think I'd like one that just said Thanks.

I know that using them makes us lazy about responding though. We don't take the time to write a few words, instead we just click that button.

It doesn't really help conversation flow, or encourage others to add their tuppence ha'penny worth to threads.

I use it, but I'm still in two minds about it.

Sometimes there really isn't anything else to say other than great or I agree etc. At least it shows that the post has been read.

I'd quite like the 'crying/laughing' emoji in our standard texts ones :(

It is here (under the smiley icon in the People section). But it's absolutely massive!

:emoji_sweat_smile:

Personally I take a thumbs up as a thank you as well as an acknowledgement of having understood something, just context dependent.

I will give a 'like' if I agree with the post , if I disagree with the post but respect the time and effort someone has put into it , if its what I think is a honest / sincere and sometimes if the post reveals certain vulnerability , if someone has spent a long time composing a response and its clear that time and thought was spent upon it.

I will like a post if it contributes to a forum culture - different thoughts and perspectives. Doesn't mean I always agree 100% with the contents.
