Leatherwork sheath question

Hi all, I'll make this quick: I fancy trying a bit of leatherowrk, and having read a few threads, think I may be able to muddle through the stencilling, scoring and folding of leather for a little Frost carving knife.

However, I wouldn't mind 'wet forming' it so it's a snug fit- I think there's an excellent thread on that too (recent, unfortunatley I can't remember who deserves the credit!)

Two questions then: Where to get the leather and thread etc? and Do I make the template a little small and stretch it with the water / steam, or what?

PS: I just re - read my post and it sounds a bit ignorant and rushed... So for that I'm very sorry! I had to make it in the 15 minutes or so I have spare in the day at the moment, I hope you'll all forgive my poor style! Hopefully by the time I have all the info I need I might have some spare time to actually try some of things out I'm learning from this fine site..

I do hope to get more involved once the pressure of life is off a little, so I look forward to your kind advice and patience....

Don't forget Britishblades.com the sister site to this one, lots of help and support there. Do some searches there is a lot of information.

Wet moulding. Wait until you have finished sewing the sheath before you wet mould it. Soak it in warm water for a few minutes until the bubbles stop. Cut your fingernails short because any mark you put on the wet leather is there for good. Cover the knife in clingfilm to protect it from geting wet.
