Traditionaly lined with sheepskin I belive, has anyone made one of these before/ got any hints or tips for making one?

You can also employ a piece of bracket fungus to dry your flies ('dry' flies that is), The fungus is split to provide a chamos like square then mounted onto leather for protection.

The lanolin in the sheeps wool provides your flies with natural water repellent. I usually gather it from the barbed wire fences.

thanks for the replies guy's, hadnt thought of getting wool off fences. Any sujestions on the best way to attach it to the inside?

Why not just use woven woollen cloth ? Or sheared fleece ? (bit cut off from a sheepskin rug ?)
If it's just small pieces you need, I'm sure if you ask there's plenty of folks have spare bits around.

I dont fasten the wool to the leather. I have an old money wallet that I keep mine in. It is the type with a press stud fastener.

If you tie flies there are many natural, free, materials that can be used.
