Hi all. After the last years using Frosts knives i decided to look for a proper RM woodlore style knife, luckily for me Roefisher was kind enough to give me a very nice custom made bushcraft knife featuring a shingfield blade, rapidboy fitted scales and a rapidboy leather sheath.
Basically since this is my first proper bushcraft knife i really need some tips on how to care for and polish the leather and care for the scales and the blade. Can anyone also give me any advice on a decent whetstone to get.

Cheers all.

P.S. i will try to get some pics uploaded soon :D

I normally treat the handle with linseed oil (£1.99 B&Q) by rubbing on a good amount and then wiping of exsess.
This part might sound daft but i treat the blade with Gillet Razer blade oil i got with my electric shaver.
The sheath should be treated with simple boot polish.

Hope that helps

I use Hoggs "H" wax on my sheaths, even though it sounds like a pile treatment... ;)

Briwax beeswax polish (basically beeswax disolved in white spirit) althoug it's meant for furniture works nicely on leather. It's completely transparent and when the spirit has evaporated it leaves a nice coat of wax which is entirely waterproof.

Apoligies a bit pic heavy
Scales are made from coconut wood with red vulcanised spacers. Any specific way to treat this type of wood???
