Lashing hazel poles together - nylon cord ?

I am experimenting with some shelters in the garden and have access to lots of free hazel.

I am wanting to lash together the round poles and have read nylon cord/rope is a good bet for long term fixing but have no more details on any specifics such as type/thickness etc

any thoughts ?

Pass - can't comment on suitability of different rope/cord types for different knots - the shelter types I have seen don't depend on lashing anyway so can't really help
