Laptop bag

I have several; they kind of breed.

But the bag I am trying to get my new laptop to like is a leather briefcase.

(Not the one I had lock trouble with).

Its a bit soft, should I add stiffening?

You know those cheap closed cell foam mats, the thin ones not the double layered ones ?
Those work well in a bag or rucksack to cushion a laptop I found. I think I paid three quid for one that I cut up. I used the rest to line a linen bag that carries my kelly kettle.

Or a couple of cheap cutting mats from The Works etc. just tape the edges with gaffer tape.
