Anyone tell me what wood's are suitable for Kuksa's??? Hawthorn ok or is it too hard,or should I lookout for a birch burl???

Have a bash at Birch, it's your best bet, good grain soft wood, Lime is easy but has little or no grain.

Ensure you don't include the heart of the wood, in my experience it tends to split quite badly.
Thanks,any tips will be appreciated and greatfully recieved as this will be first attempt at having ago at making a Kuksa!

Work with green wood if you can and if you take a few sessions you can keep it in a plastic bag between sessions to keep it wet.

Having recently been on a bushcraft wood carving course I would say Birch. Avoid the heartwood and use a fair sized log. This is the easiest to carve.:D
