today i got 2 small kuksas as a present
i put water in them and there was a film of oil over the top.
how do i stop this ?

That sounds like the finishing oil ...wash them and the problem should go away....

i'd just give them a good wipe out with a cloth or some kitchen roll or similar and then leave them somewhere warm for a while so that the wood soaks up any remaining oil that's stuck in the grain. that should do the trick.

I have rinsed them with water severalm times but it is still there
