I have noticed under various subjects that members keep on telling us how good Kukris are, and because of this I have been looking around trying to find out who the best manufacturers are, but because they are not marked in any way it is proving very difficult to work out if I would be buying a good one or something made for tourists.
I have come across this company www.thekhukurihouse.com in Nepal who "seem" to sell the real thing, but as they are very cheap it makes me wonder.
Have any of you used this company if yes whats the quality like?
Or can any of you recomend a supplier of the real thing? :-?

Same with the Cold Steel ... the handle is a bit rough and initially gave me a few blisters.

What a response, cheers chaps.
I have just got off the phone to the Gurkha reg pri shop in Folkstone and wait for this.
The genuine article hand made in Nepal as issued to UK forces........8" blade..........wait for it................£11.
and even better 12" blade £15.

Only problem is thay cannot do mail order so will have to wait until I go to the sea side for more rotten cockles from Folkstone that put me on the karzie for a week.
Better still get the kukri and go and find the bugger that sold me the cockles.

Thanks again for the ideas. :-D

Well they are designed for Nepalize who are small built and as they are general camp knives They are mostly supposed to be used by women.
not Big hairy arsed European Mountain men :pack:

I would be a bit suss of any new Genuine Kukri at £10-£15 there are a lot of crap ones about and evey man and his dog clames to bwe the suppliers to the Army etc etc Plus if they where made in nepal thne the guys who made it arnt gonna get much out of the cut (Being one of the poorest countries in the world)

Considering that they are being sold in a Gurkha camp and that I was assured by the Gurkha that runs the pri shop on the camp that they are as issued to the Gurkhas, and that the reason that they are so cheap is as you say that Nepal is on of the poorest countries in the world, so the cost of living is very cheap and that the pri shop is a non profit making supplier to the regiment, I can believe this man, Gurkhas are some of the most honerable people in the world, cant see him lying over a knife!! :)

I agree ... even khuks from HI are very, very low priced when compared to pretty much any other knife you can buy.

I have finally got my hands on the said Kukris, and for the price they are fantastic.
The large one has a 13" blade and is very sharp. Cost £15.
The small one has an 8" blade and is equally sharp. Cost £11.
Both blades are 11mm thick.
I had a choice of either buffolo horn or wood handle, I chose the wood as the horn was slippery.
All in all very good quality, handles solid on the blade, cant wait to get them on the waterstone. :-D
