Following advice in an earlier thread about chopping up a saw blade using a cold chisel, I had a go with a done saw. Cutting the saw blade into strips of metal suitable for knifemaking was done with a small cold chisel and a bit of rail track.

The bottom one is still "in progress" I took my time with grinding down the edges, cooling it a lot.. I didn't do any heat treating to the blade.

The two that are done so far got a dark wood handle and a micarta like handle.
They are for the kitchen and handle very well. They seem, so far, to hold an edge well and at 1mm thick slice well.

Cool, I often think I should get off my behind and make a saw blade knife as a kind of DH Russell/Grohmann type as they handle nicely.

...
How difficult were they to cut with the cold chisel?...

Hello, I marked a straight line where I wanted to cut them, and made sure the saw was flat on the rail line section I use as an anvil. The cold chisel is about a 1/2" one, and I made 2 passes along the linemaking a shallow groove, then one more pass and the saw blade broke along the line. The edge was rough, but I was planning to grind it (slowly) back to shape anyway. The edge of the chisel seems fine, I don't kmow the thickness of metal this would work with, but it worked for the 1mm saw blade ok.
