Following advice in an earlier thread about chopping up a saw blade using a cold chisel, I had a go with a done saw. Cutting the saw blade into strips of metal suitable for knifemaking was done with a small cold chisel and a bit of rail track.
The bottom one is still "in progress" I took my time with grinding down the edges, cooling it a lot.. I didn't do any heat treating to the blade.
The two that are done so far got a dark wood handle and a micarta like handle.
They are for the kitchen and handle very well. They seem, so far, to hold an edge well and at 1mm thick slice well.
