Hi guys and gals,
this isn't bushy related at all, but I figure some of you may have suffered a similar injury, especially the walkers amongst us.
Back on the 21st December last year, I no the date as it was the kids vs parents Xmas football match, I injured my knee playing in that match, iv never suffered from a knee injury before so it's a totally new thing for me.
I would have thought that after 3 months I would be some way to it healing, when in fact it's no where near close to feeling any better!!
I'm having to take strong pain killers tramadol etc to help me through the day, only when I really need it mind you, it still even hurts when I'm resting!!
The pain is on the inside of my left knee, what I'm reading is it could be my medial ligament, although I'm certainly no expert.
I'm assuming it happened during twisting and turn on an artificial 3G playing surface.
Iv done the whole rest ice compression elevation thing, it's not really helped too much, my knee sometimes feels unstable but not all the time and weirdly I'm not walkin with any sort of limp.
Sometimes after walking and getting a bit warm the pain eases but not all the time.
I can't take any medication such as ibprofen as I'm on drugs to stop acid reflex, I do however take an injection every 2 weeks for my chrons disease called humira which in itself is a form of anti inflamitry medication that is prescribed for other things other than Crohn's like arthritis.
My questions are really, is it normal to still be in a world of pain after 3 months? Is it actually worth visiting my doctor as there isn't a huge amount he can do for me at the surgery? Or do I go straight to a physio for a diagnosis?
I'm really not sure what to do as like I said I have never suffered with knee problems!! I am 33 and a big guy, and always played sports, iv always looked upon myself as lucky that my knees and back have been fine over the years.
But I am losing weight now so that will help.
I'm planning on doing some long distance walking in the summer so really need it sorted one way or another and it's already stopping my training.
Like I said earlier I apologise that this isn't bushy related but I thought it was as good as anywhere as I no there is a wealth of information in you guys.
And to be frank it's starting to get on my nerves.
Cheers
Steve
