Thank you. It was up on ebay for £9. The photos were pretty rubbish. I was looking at it for a few days before pulling the trigger. I'm glad I did. It's in very good condition with all fully working zips which I've given a lube. The straps are quite stiff, possibly from age, and they take more effort to pull through the ladder lock buckles on the shoulder straps than I feel comfortable applying, in case I break a buckle. But apart from that minor niggle, I really like the backpack. I'm thinking about doing a camp using 1980's themed kit when the weather get's a bit better. I think I will take it on a hike up to Pen Y Fan and see if it gets any attention. Thanks for posting such great memories.
Used these before the Berghaus bergens, there excellent rucksacks and yours looks like it has years still in it of very hard use.
ENJOY
I honestly don't know if it has any properties suited to lubing zippers, but I just used a little bit of ACF 50, applied with an ear bud. I do have some Beeswax and Zip-Slip that I use on my dry suit but I couldn't be bothered to dig it out! It's an absolute belter, as are you other ones. What did you lube the zips with?
