Six families went, six families came back.

We didn't take very many pictures, but (or maybe because) we had a great time. Or I was busy.

I set up and/or assisted in setting up six out of seven tents. Prepared for, lit and tended our fires. Cooked our dinner.

Like I mentioned in another post, the paper like bark from what I thought was a eucalyptus tree made a fantastic tinder bundle. And my lesson from this outing: mango is an awesome firewood. Lesson learned in previous family camping trips: bring an extra tent (small 2 person) and use it as a storage "shed" to keep little critters, up to pig size out of your food and gear dry.

Here is a crude panorama of where we were at.

Just hanging out. Hurry up and get set up so we can start playing. Oh wait, I forget, we can play! The grown ups have to set up camp.

Is the food here?

We had salad, hot dogs (kids just love cooking them on the fire with a stick!), steak done "caveman" style, salmon, rice, s'mores and tea.

The kids had a blast. The got a hike to the lake, run around time, an early evening walk, they used one of the families inflatable mattress as a jumpy toy, looked at stars, got stories from story stations at various tents. Man, I am pooped thinking about all the stuff they did.

We had a great time. The kids all played til they dropped. Then the adults got to sit around the campfire and relax and talk until we all headed off to dreamland close to midnight.

LOL Hanzo,

Looks just like a family trip over here mate! Some might say with better weather and scenery but that is objective as we too have some beautiful countryside.

Looks stunning and the kids obviously were well fed :lmao:

Aloha Matt,

I think anywhere that kids and camping are mixed, it will look mostly the same. We indoctrinated several newbie camping families. That gets me almost as excited as just camping with my family.

Another fantstic post Hanzo - thanks mate!

A beautiful place, beautiful kids and they look so happy and relaxed at the bottom.

One question though - why have you duct taped your children (bottom photo)? Does it stop them running about:D

Hi Hanzo, great pics there and the kids look like they had a load of fun to. On the 3rd photo down there is a tree in the background that looks like a palm of some kind, with what looks like the root system running from the trunk into the ground. What i was wondering was has this tree ever been used for making bows?,the roots look nice and long with a slight bend in them and my first thought was "Now they look like nice bow stave's". Anyway i just wondered if maybe the indigenous people may have used them for that purpose in the past. Are you able to shed some light on this at all? Thanks Stuart f.

The duct tape is part of my daughter's costume from this past Halloween. She wanted to make a hybrid creature costume that had "Kikaida" arms and different parts from different characters. Now that you mention it, I may have to try it sometime.

This is easier than me trying to explain:

As far as the roots making bow staves, I have no idea. I will try to find out more when I have some free moments to head back there.
