Had a nice day on the coast at the weekend, with the intention of looking at old stuff, very very old stuff!
There's quite something about cracking open a rock and having the realisation that you're the very first human to see what's inside, something that is 200 million years old, something that existed way back in time before the very first mammal even existed.

It's pretty easy to find stuff.

This was a large ammonite encased in a rock and crystalised.

Some tiny pyritised ammonites placed on top of another piece of sparkly rock.

A nice crystalline structure.

This large rock face contained many fossils.

Not that far away I suppose. It's a few more miles further west - between Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

Lovely area, on one of our many field trips to the area one of my mates who on the course shouted out that he had found an ashtray, the tutor looked at it and almost peed himself with excitement, it wasn't an ashtray, but the vertebrae from a dinosaur, cant remember which dinosaur now, my mate still has the vertebrae.

I was down there last summer before the bushmoot, brilliant couple of days wandering about the beach picking up a few nodules, there seemed to be people every couple of meters chipping away at the rocks.
