Did anyone see the programme tonight? all about summer cooking, BBQ's and on fires etc.
well I think I noticed a bit of an error, in a section where he was cooking spitroast chicken with his italian matey and they were looking for skewers, he asked his mate can you use any wood and he said yes, am I mistaken in thinking that if you used a toxic wood like yew for instance that you would get ill affects?
if so it's not great that they are telling people on national telly to use any old stick that they find.

some fantastic recipes especially dosas which are my favourite Indian food (but hard to find in the UK).

On the downside he smoked prawns and fish in a galvanised bucket which was none too smart

you did indeed, there were several things really and unfortunately there are a lot of people (my misses included) who go ahead and copy his recipes and methods.

Forgive my ignorance, but why should you not use a galvanised bucket as a smoker?

Futher to my previous comment, I now realise it's to do with the heating of the galvanised surface which in turn releases harmful zinc fumes!
