Aye Up All,
Does anyone know of where I might source a full zip front version of the current Brit Army PCS thermal smock?
I've come across one in a surplus shop in XS (I need XL) - no identifying manufacturer or issue panels inside. Not sure if it is issue or a special order etc?
It's a sort of cross between a Softie jacket and the issued smock (smooth nylon lining and Thinsulate filled as opposed to fleece lined) and in that gorgeous light olive/almost coyote colour.
Thanks.:)

Aye Up Scoman,
Just looked at their site and a few retailers - it's not the jacket - (nor the price!) As an aside I can't believe how much they are asking for the special six shirts £138! of which I still have two old ones, issued to me many, many years ago. Good way to give a Yorkshireman a heart attack. LOL

Thanks anyway. :)

I have one, the cuffs need worked on, napoleon pocket is great for maps and the hidden hood is great....shame about the rank slide though.
Phone GOArmy as it may not be listed on their website.

Sorry Jaegar hadn't realised you were from t'Yorkshire. Have a sup of t'ale and breathe deep. Every penny a prisoner ;-). On a serious note though I have read that the fleece on the surplus ones act like Velcro if you were to wear anything underneath it. Montane do anything?

Aye Up both,

Yes Scoman you are correct there can be a bit of 'cling' between layers with the fleece inner of the smock version depending on what the material is but nowt too bad. My main reason for looking to replace it with the zipper version is that the smock isn't quite as warm or comfortable as what I believe the jacket is (I've tried a Softie on) and I have some mods in mind for it. Re Montane I've had a number of their jackets over the years (still got a fleece jacket in really good condition from my climbing years but colours not suitable for rural ops) and found them to be excellent quality including their version of the special six that they used? to do.
Thanks for that info Tiger Stacker, I will get onto that. Re the rank slide I have them on other kit and find them useful for temporary attachment of things like my 401 GPS or receiver for my PIR transmitters.
Thanks again both.
