well, it is :(
My inner muppet is sulking; I wanted to go down the park and see Clanranald's Medieval Village, visit with some friends, be nosey, pick up the gossip, see who's coming to Lanark next weekend...... and the game's a bogie :rolleyes: It's pouring in that relentless grey, still, muggy weather that makes wearing a cagoule a sauna, and every midge is sitting waiting for the unawares under every tree in the place.
So, I've got the dyepots on, I'm sitting drinking hot chocolate and munching oatcakes and cheese, the cat's bored 'cos she doesn't want out in the rain, and I'm contemplating some net making.
How's your Saturday?

22'C here and climbing.Pretty,wispy clouds in the sky.

I had a lovely walk in the woods with my wee dog before it got too hot.Saw a beautiful Roe doe with her calf.

Hope your weekend improves.
 
$orry - we're blue skies with fluffy white clouds and I'm taking a break from the sun :cool: . We're supposed to have the rain tomorrow and the water-butt's almost empty :D - so it's run round the garden time pruning, mowing and cleaning out the bunnies. I really love my gardens :approve: . At the moment our blueberries are suppling us quite nicely so as I potter round I snaffle the berries sharing some with our dog (SWMBO doesn't like them - I'll have to share the apples though!). I don't think many things beat eating things you've grown whilst you're pottering away.:D
 
Nice here too. I'm sat being frustrated at the moment, waiting on the call to action, baby sister is moving house today. Can't go anywhere much and don't want to start anything I can't just leave.

Anyone know ways of dyeing nettle cord? Might go harvesting for something to do. Or sharpen stuff.

I know what you mean about the garden :) I've been muching rasps, blackcurrants, strawberries, loganberries and rhubarb for weeks now and the apple tree is laden :cool:


What colour do you want to dye the nettle cord. Boiling it up in some strong tea or coffee would be simplest if you just want to darken it a bit. Willow bark boiled up will do the same or oak bark and some iron or copper for darker again.

Very hot here, although I've lost half the day as I put in a monster amount of time driving yesterday and got back home very late. I was absolutely washed out. But at least you aren't wasting your day Toddy, you've got a project on the go and helping folk out here with advice, so not a total loss! :)
 
Tis a cracking day here, s'orry you have a wet one Toddy, sounds like what I used to call a John Major day, grey dull and uninteresting.... I am sorting out my gear at the mo, wondering what to take with me to Sweden next month. I am looking forward to going moth trapping tonight, so my gennie is gonna need a quick check over...
 
Its raining in Edinburgh, not so hard that you can't work outside a bit.
Joe and me have just made the first part of a 5ft long cow model for a friend who wants one for the monty python weekend at Doune castle. Also planning to make a 1:12 scale model of a yurt this pm to aid in this years (hopefully) project..

I've worked at Doune Castle for Historic Scotland, trust me, the Monty Python afficionados are scary folks....The Knights of......., etc., a 5ft cow model is *normal* :D It's the killer 5 ft white rabbits called Herman that scare me :eek:

Actually I thought of you yesterday as I was googling an old uni friend who seems to have
worked for something vaguely "Historic Scotland" although I can't remember the exact
place. Unfortunately she doesn't appear to work there anymore as the email bounced.

The giant rabbits are something else, British Giants, Flemish Giants and the like, and the white ones have red eyes :rolleyes: I'm told that they regularly top 10kgs :eek:

I know of Genevieve, different branch though, she's Interpretation and I work with the Education Service.

I had a nice few nights out in some localish woods, camped with some climbing types. In between which I was driving round Kent like a maniac in the hot sunshine visiting friends and family. Saturday night was surreal though .. sat round a campfire drinking cocktails!

Yesterday it rained a bit and I also put my back out so am now unable to even lift my pack :(
