I know its a pretty dumb question, but I got it in a charity shop for £2.50, and its handmade (its got initials scored into the clay when it was wet and no other markings) Its clay with a glazed inside. It looks like a cooking pot , it wont explode or anything if its not will it?

Not sure Lindsey, how big is it ?

The handles don`t look like they`re fit for grabbing to me, if it`s small it could be a salt pot / pig.

It looks more like a storage container not sure i would trust putting it in a oven I did it with a fired pot and it split in half what a bloody mess

It looks like stoneware to me, high fired, even if its earthenware when it was in the kiln it went many hundred degrees hotter than your oven so will come to no damage. Looks just right for a stew pot to me.
